Mikaela Hållén is a very talented stylist and blogger working for STYLEBY magazine, and one of those wonderful human beings I’ve had the pleasure to get to know since we became colleagues. Her personal style is raw and, for once I’d dare to say, really cool. I also love her work which keeps on evolving and inspiring me every time. As told by Mikaela:
Tell me about your style. What are your favourite brands?
My style is minimalistic and I wear a lot of black pieces – you can’t find much colour in my wardrobe. To give a look more attitude I focus on accessories and try to experiment with shapes and materials. I would say that Louis Vuitton by Nicolas Ghesquiére and Céline by Phoebe Philo are number two favourites.

How did you become a stylist?
I started studying fashion, and then met a friend who told me about a stylist course that I ended up applying for. Later, that led to me working as a stylist assistant and a few years to an interview for STYLEBY magazine. I’m blessed that I have met so many amazing women along the way who have inspired me and given me the opportunity to grow as a stylist and creative.
What’s on your wish list?
A pair of Louis Vuitton jeans which I already have, but in one size bigger. I’m waiting for them to show up on Vestiaire Collective because, right now, the zipper drops down and the button releases when I wear them. The ass looks great though, haha!
Which are you favourite beauty or skincare products?
I use a vitamin c-serum from Björk and then I mix a moisturiser from the same brand with three drops of pure argan oil from Moroccan Oil. I’m kind of obsessed with oils and I use them all over my body, I even use them as fragrance since I’m sensitive to perfume; Coco Coco’s ‘Bath Oil’ with coconut is my scent.

How do you detox?
Working out is the best medicine for me when I’m feeling low; Abs is my favourite part to drill. I’ve recently begun to eat healthier and my friends have inspired me a lot by sending me vegetarian recipes that are easy to make. And oh, I start every morning with a turmeric shot (or before going to bed after a lot of drinks… I imagine that the shot will make the hangover go away).
What are your favourite places to hang out in Stockholm?
For drinks I’d recommend all bars near Mariatorget and for dancing Trädgården and Slakthuset in the summer. I also love to spend time in the Swedish archipelago, it’s magic!
