(Affiliate) Christmas and the festive season is getting close and even if this is the season you finally get to show off your true nature, as a party animal an nothing less! – or if you, like us, tend to end up on your couch – the expenses seems sky high this part of year.
To save at least some money (AND because they’ve been bragging about them for ages) I’ve asked our Fashion and Project Leader about their favorite products from one of our favorite affordable stores: H&M.
…and let’s face it, I was never not gonna spend that money anyways.
KATARINA, FASHION EDITOR
Few people are better at finding those golden budget pieces than our Fashion Editor – makeup being no exception. Here are her H&M favorites:
Earlier this year I visited Madrid for the first time (or actually the second: the first time was when I was 4, but that doesn’t count right?). Anyways, I’ve heard so much about the city, speaking in terms of all the good sides – both in random travel conversations and specifically after booking the trip. The architecture, the art scene, restaurants, shopping, not to mention the vibe; Madrid has it all. Or?
I’m not sure if it was just my travel luck (that was just not on my side this time? Because it always isn’t!) and the fact that I didn’t see the hidden side of Madrid almost everyone is talking about. OR if the city might be a bit glorified, when compared to some of my favorite cities.
Either way, I’m definitely booking a new trip (and doing my research better?) to hopefully find out I’m wrong, BUT even though I wasn’t blown away, there were some spots definitely worth paying a visit while in town:
1. EL RETIRO PARK:Probably one of the most beautiful parks I’ve seen – and I think the gorgeous Christal Palace is to blame!
2. TOMA CAFE: Super small, but super cozy! Toma Cafe is definitely my favorite breakfast, lunch and coffee spot. Great menu, perfect sized plates and AMAZING coffee. Not to mention they have a super tasty iced coffee to-go!
3. MERCADO DE SAN MIGUEL: What isn’t it to love about food halls? I’m not sure and Madrid’s answer is so alive and tasty! All types of tapas, olives to die for and wine wine wine. Not to mention the architecture looks so good at night – and the atmosphere is even better!
Mercado San Miguel
4. PALACIO IN THE SUNSET: Not that it isn’t majestic in daylight, but you really want to see it when the sun goes down. Walk a bit higher at Calle Factor for the perfect view.
5. ROOFTOP AT NH COLLECTION: THE spot for a shopping-break – or just for some late night drinks!
Left: L.A. Studio and right: Ekseption
6. L.A. STUDIO: Made for interior junkies!
7. EKSEPTION:High-end shopping mekka!
8. MALASAÑA: Stroll around and discover all the vintage stores and artisan cafes in Madrid’s Bohemian neighbourhood.
Left: Chocolatería San Ginés and right: Sofia Reina Museum
9. CHURROS: …at Chocolatería San Ginés anno 1894 because you just can’t get enough – and these ones are really good!
10. MUSEO REINA SOFIA:This museum simply just has some incredible works that can’t be missed.
(Affiliate) I LOVE when garments can be used in almost any occasion; styled differently from time to time and year after year. And if they’re comfy as well? Well we’re I’m heaven.
This is how I’m feeling about a pair of grey super wide Zara pants from last season. I’m living in them lately. Wearing them for work, dinners, travels; there is just something about the casual touch of the wide legs, yet the material and the perfect grey shade makes them sophisticated enough for more dressed up occasions.
Trust me, you’ll love yourself for investing in a pair of grey all-around trousers, which is why I’ve gathered some favorites of mine!
(Affiliate) In danger of whining we have to admit our skin could have been better – dryness, redness, oliyness – ALL-nesses seems too be present these days. Now, while we do believe in remedies like stress down, get enough sleep, have a look at your makeup products… we’re also big fans of pretty fan-tas-tic products.
Below we’ve gathered our remedies on bottles. We love them, our skin loves them and we hope you love them too.
KATARINA, FASHION EDITOR
I newly started testing some products from the ordinary (a regime for balancing irregularities and adding glow) and I’ve already fallen in love with their Glycolic Acid 7% Toner.
It reduces redness and calms down imperfections literally over night. Not to mention it also gives a perfect finish to your skin, adding glow and prepping for the rest of your products (both skincare and beauty)
CAROLINE, BEAUTY EDITOR
RÅ Organic Skin care: My forever favorite brand. Their products have really changed my skin; as in killed those imperfections faster and better then anything I’ve ever tried (Now I’ve run out and their all back.). The serum and the exfoliator is a powerful combo, which I really cannot recommend enough.
Pssst… I leave the exfoliating mask on for 15 and not 5 minutes as I was recommended this!
(Affiliate) I’m still hunting down our December getaway. First we were all about Mexico again – like for instance this dream destination. Then we were all over Cuba. BUT due to a (forced) shorter getaway, we’re totally turning our magnifying glass.
More specifically, we’re turning all eyes on Dubai and Morocco! And first spot out; this hidden pearl in the middle of the desert. Yet pretty close to all the city life when (or should I say if!) you get enough of your sun bed.
Al Maha, with its 42 suites, isn’t only a 5-star hotel surrounded by the iconic sand dunes of the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve (like that isn’t enough), the hotel suites also have private swimming pools with breathtaking dune and mountain views. Anyone else sold for a battery charging week pre or post Christmas?
I definitely am AND everything else than reading books by the pool is seen as stress – included dressing! Which is why my packing list would be like this:
(Affiliate) There is no garment we love more during the AW-season than the super long coats – yes the ones literally touching the ground. If possible.
They’re keeping you warm in style, they’re super wearable and… in general they simply just look good; sophisticated yet so laid-back.
Sadly the super long, floor-length coats are too hard to find – season after season… Either they’re just not long enough or the ones touching the floor are waaay out of our budget. BUT, we’ve been doing some investigative work and look what we just found:
Tips! Always remember to check out the men’s department and buy the coat.
(Affiliate) Now, while we have to wait – for what seems like ages! – for our fashion favorites, runway hairstyles are considerably more accessible. And not just that; some of our favorite SS19 looks are simply just to stunning for fall that we can’t and don’t want to wait until the warmer season!
We’re thinking preppy accessories, volume, soft waves and natural sleeks.
Below we’ve gathered 7 looks we’re obsessing over and…
…here are our wish list of tools for nailing these looks at home:
(Affiliate) I’ve never really fallen in love with Belgrade – even though it’s the capitol of my home country, only an hour drive from my birth place AND everyone else I know LOVES it.
…but that was before my last 24 hours visit. Now I understand – and I can’t wait for my next (LONGER) stay in one of the coolest up and coming European capitols.
Here is how to spend 24 casual hours in Belgrade, Serbias capitol:
Left: Kalemegdan park and right: Pekara Trpkovic
10:00 – BREAKFAST
By the Sava river at one of the splav’s. My favorite is Kota 70. ‘Prženice sa fetom i ajvarom’ is a must-eat for breakfast!
12:00 – A WALK IN THE PARK
The Kalemegdan park is perfect for a post-breakfast walk with its beautiful views and tranquil surroundings (not to mention the historical fortress of Belgrade). If you’re already in the need of a coffee or just a break Kalemegdanska Terasa is such a beautiful cafe.
14:00 – LUNCH LIKE THE LOCALS
A walk in the park (and the activities post…) always requires a good lunch. And if there is one thing we Balkans know, it’s lunch! Step by one of the many amazing Pekara’s in town (look for signs with Pekara in cyrillic: пекара) and grab a burek with a natural yogurt on the side! It’s a must.
The super old Pekara Trpkovic is a good alternative, so is the modern Pekara ‘Hleb i Kifle’.
Jane Doe Vintage Shop
15:00 – VINTAGE-HUNT
Post-Burek? Shopping ofc! With full batteries, there is nothing better than a good vintage-hunt. Even though the vintage scene is still young in Belgrade, there are two shops worth visiting:
1. Jane Doe Vintage Shop
2. Šmizla Vintage & Design Store
17:00 – COFFE TIME
There is no coffee in Belgrade (neither this good coffee-break atmosphere) like the one at Przionica D59B.
18:00 – AND THEN… SOME MORE SHOPPING
We’re not done shopping yet! As well as some of the classic high street stores (Zara, Mango, H&M, …) in the main street ‘Knez Mihailova’, there are some really good stores opening in the city sentrum. Here are some spots:
1. Distante: The first concept store with brands like Celine, Balenciaga, Saint Laurent ++
2. Mona: Bags, bags and bags – you might find some really good ones here.
3. Metropoliten: The best beauty store with brands like Aesop, Le Labo, Byredo and Comme des Garcons. Did I mention they have a beauty salon too? Well they do!
4. The street of Kralja Petra: Not only does this street have a lot of great stores (especially some good shoe stores), it also has some good break spots like some super tasty ice cream at Crna Ovca and some lunch or just a glass of wine at Smokvica.
20:00 – TIME FOR A CHANGE
Get back to your hotel and step up your outfit-game!
Where to stay? Here are some options: Hotel Moskva, Saint Ten or Square 9.
21:00 – DINNER
The restaurant scene is fast growing and super various speaking in terms of type of restaurant and food. You’ll find everything from classic balkan restaurants (with ‘home cooked’ plates), to modern and laid-back cuisine, to super luxe ones.
Do not miss out Restoran Tri (and their super cozy backyard) for dishes inspired from all over the world with a balkan touch.
If you’re up for some a real balkan dinner experience try Tri Sesira.
23:00 – DRINKS
If you’re not up for a crazy night out at the Splavs, get some good beer or wine at KC Grad or Jazz Basta.
We’ve been keeping this pearl of a brand for ourselves for a while now, but we just can’t get it out of our minds – and we bet you want either now!
Say hi to Reike Nen; one of our favorite shoe brands ATM. You might have seen them around on IG lately (if not you should definitely check them our HERE!), but we’re sure you’ll see more of this minimalist shoe brand – with their perfect stand out details!
(Affiliate) Autumn vacay? Anyone? We’re at least(!) dreaming about a propper city getaway – soon! Now, when traveling multi-functionality is always welcomed, besides that propper hydration products, the best hair stuff, a travel sized perfume and waterproof mascara is much needed.
Ah, in other words – the best of the beauty world! Below we’ve gathered 5 essential product to lift that city getaway to new heights:
(Affiliate) My expectations before my Barcelona getaway with my boyfriend was approximately non – except that we were going to have a good and relaxing time, escaping all the stress at home.
I’m not sure if it was this – the lack of excitement and expectations – or the fact that the city simply is just made for the tranquil life, but Barcelona just jumped up on my top 10 big city list. Tranquil yet alive, modern yet with so much history. Not to mention the cultural scene; art, music and food on highest level!
Travel with us to Barcelona…
Left: Vincci Mae and right: Margot House
WHERE TO STAY
Since I’m not that found of living in the middle of ‘everything’, we always try hunting down the best hotels a bit out of the heart of the city, yet close enough it isn’t stress coming back for a quick break or change before dinner. So, we found Vincci Mae.
This super chic hotel is located in Avinguda Diagonal, close to the Passeig de Gràcia – and in general all the must-visit districts. With its newly and delicately decorated (large) rooms, the amazing breakfast and perfect location, this hotel ticks off all our demands. Not to mention the price, which makes it even better!
You should definitely NOT leave Barcelona without having breakfast or brunch at Caravelle. The whole spot is just super authentic; from the interior, to the serving and the food. Caravelle is even THE coffee-break spot thanks to it’s location and amazing Cappuccino ofc!
After doing some pre-travel research (yes, we love having our restaurants all set, simply because there is nothing more annoying – and conflictual – than trying to find the perfect restaurant, in a new city, when hungry) I found out that there are actually few European cities that can rival Barcelona’s food scene at the moment.
In other words; a weekend getaway is far than enough to sum up all the food-spots you should know, but here are a few that passed the security check – and some we had on our list:
1. GATS: Chic and laid-back atmosphere, with great tapas and sharing plates. Do not forget the drinks – or a huge sangria!
2. CECCONI’S:This stylish and modern Italian spot is known for serving super tasty Northern Italy dishes – and not only in Barcelona. The baked gnocchi’s are musts! So is the risotto with mushrooms and taleggio.
3. EL NACIONAL: Probably one of the coolest and most well thought out concept restaurant I’ve been to so far. El Nacional consist of 4 food areas (restaurants) and 4 bars, all worth a visit – depending on your food-mood.
4. EL MERCADER:This one is the total opposite from the rest mentioned above; a home away from home restaurant, serving both classic and moderns dishes in the cozy environment. Sitting outside in the garden, drinking wine and eating plates that are all prepared according to the clean produce ethics, KM0 and Slow Food? Yes, please!
WE ALSO WANT TO TRY: La Balmesina, Bicnic, Final Felic La Dama, The Green Spot.
Left: Boca Grande and right: Cecconi’s
WHERE TO DRINK
For some pre-dinner glasses or a casual evening, both the garden at Mercander, Gats and Cecconi’s will do. If you’re really up for some good wine Can Cisa/Bar Brutal is your place!
If you’re up for a night-out round check out: Boca Grande, Paradiso and Creps al Born.
Soho House Barcelona
Either you need a shopping-break or a late night hangout-spot, the rooftops in Barcelona are made this and the tranquil life you should be seeking while there.
1. SOHO HOUSE BARCELONA
2. HOTEL DUQUESA DE CARDONA
3. LA ISABELA AT HODEL 1898
4. LA DOLCE VITAE AT MAJESTIC HOTEL
5. PULITZER TERRACE
Left: Celine and right: Santa Eulalia
WHERE TO SHOP
For everything from Zara and Mango to Celine and Gucci head over to Passeig De Gràcia; the main street for both high-street and high-end shopping. But if you’re looking for the treasures, the secret is to stroll around – especially in the areal around el Born and Las Ramblas – and discover the small, intime shops in the tiny streets.
FASHION: Santa Eulalia, Jean-Pierre Bua and La Manual Alpargatera.
VINTAGE: Le Swing Vintage and Le Blow.
BEAUTY: Les topettes.
INTERIOR: Noak Room and Brutus de Gaper.
FLEA MARKETS: Los Encants.
From the left: Park Güell, Parc Del Laberint D’Horta and Picasso Museum
WHAT TO SEE
Except Sagrada Família – which of course is a must-see – these should be on your list. As well as just our all time favorite thing to do when visiting a new city; walk around and get lost in the streets.
(Affiliate) We’re not the most frequent shoppers, but what we do LOVE is hunting timeless pieces. Those that can be worn in infinite combinations and taken out of boxes year after year and be our seasonal saviors.
AND what we just realized while packing up our winter wardrobe is that a lot of these timeless favorites comes from one of our high street favorites, H&M. Trend, Conscious Exclusive, premium quality; regardless of the label, what’s common for the pieces we keep on wearing season after season is material, shape, details and color.
Longlasting materials, classic yet modern shapes, eye-catching details (either if it’s a large collar, a strap-twist or xl-sleeves) and basic colors like black, beige and grey. And we just found 5 new H&M pieces worth investing in!
(Affiliate) Long time no see dream destination. We blame the lack of vacation-planning due to some stressful months with both fashion weeks, work and B & me moving out. Anyways, planning-time it is, and we’re hunting down some options for our winter getaway(s)!
In my case at the moment, it looks like it’s either going to be Cuba or Mexico (again) in December. But if I know myself right, this might change as fast as the weather. Especially with us stalking dream spots. Like for instance this super tranquil Mexican hideaway.
«Hacienda Sac Chich is a luxury vacation villa rental that serves as a great gathering place for families and groups of friends offering a sensory experience in Mexico’s Yucatán region. The villa rental’s setting is very private with lots of nature surrounding it».
… very private with lots of nature surrounding it, as the owners says. Sounds just like what we’re looking for. Not to mention the authentic yet a bit modern interior and design, makes the luxe villa the perfect home away from home – with just enough hotel feel. The staff is available for assistance when you’re in the need for it, and if you’re not you’re able to have the villa all by yourself.
After last year’s Mexico trip – in the same winter moth, December – we learned that a Mexican winter getaway requires: comfort and casualness, long evening sleeves, no-heels, less makeup and a lot of oils both for your skin and hair. Perfect to keep the humidity under control, speaking in terms of the hear and to emphasize the glow the humidity gives your skin. Here is our mini-packing list:
(Affiliate) We rarely obsess over colors; but when we do we REALLY do. We want it everywhere. From our underwear to our shoes and bags. We just want it to be the first thing we see when opening our closets.
And we officially have a new color-obsession: Burgundy. It’s a long time ago since we’ve been crushing on this fall-favorite. I’m not sure why, but I think I know why we’re obsessing over it this season. The use of the color.
Burgundy isn’t only a color used to create cute and feminine pieces, in delicate materials. This season we’re seeing a more modern and masculine use of the color. We’ve found a perfect burgundy suit (and tons of blazers!), too many strong leather pieces and a lot of burgundy knit dreams. There is just nothing not to love about the ‘contrast’ – and these pieces are the proof:
(Affiliate) I’ve been chatting with the queen of masks! Few people know facial masking better than our very own Katarina Petrovic – and of course we want to feed of her experiences! Since we’re always on the run, we’re obsessing over the ones possible to do on the run – sheet masks – SO we asked her about her sheet mask tips, mistakes and favorites:
Shop Katarina’s favorites through the links below:
FIRST THING FIRST: WHY DO YOU SPEND SO MUCH OF YOUR LIFE MASKING?
There are two good reasons for this:
1. It’s the perfect quick fix for your skin. If you’re going out a good mask will actually make a huge difference. Not only can it make your skin glow, but it’s also the perfect makeup prep!
2. Let’s face it; It’s simply twenty minutes of battery charging, which is much needed in the way to fast world we’re living in!
SO, HOW DO YOU GET THE BEST RESULT? (…because we’ve heard some rumors claiming that masking isn’t just masking to you…)
Rumors confirmed! Before I start masking I always prep my skin, to make the most out of the mask. For that I have this three step routine:
1. I start by removing makeup and cleansing my face with my favorite oil based cleanser from Lancôme.
2. Then I prep my skin further with a toner.
3. …and last (my favorite step!) I apply essence and serum. This is to ensure the hydration from the mask really melts and stays in.
WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE MOST COMMON MISTAKE WHEN IT COMES TO MASKING?
Not prepping your skin right or not using the right mask for the right occasion/purpose.
AND LAST BUT, NOT LEAST: WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE SHEET MASKS?
(Affiliate) Amsterdam has never been on my must-see list, but is officially one of my favorite weekend-getaway cities! Growing food scene, great shopping (including vintage!) and just in general the casual vibe, biking around without the pressure to see hundreds of attractions on every single corner.
Travel with us to Amsterdam…
WHERE TO STAY
We stayed at Conscious Hotel Westerpark, perfectly located in the gorgeous Westerpark – a stone’s throw from the city centrum. So close that you can walk or bike to the attractions yet enough isolated from the city ‘chaos’.
And no, this is not a all hippy spot, given the name. The Conscious Hotels strive to be as green, sustainable and eco-friendly as possible, but you won’t even notice some of their sustainable decisions because they’re being kind to the planet in the background of their clean and minimalistic design.
My absolute favorite spot in the city for a late breakfast/lunch is Toki. Do not leave the city without hanging out in this perfectly designed café, that probably serves the best breakfast as well as coffees and cakes!
Another must-try, is the vegan Yerba (which is also a perfect dinner-spot!). No more need to be said than: Check out their Weekend Brunch Menu.
1. FOODHALLEN: If you can’t find anything you like at Foodhallen you’re simply just not in the food-mood. Amsterdam’s food hall has everything from juicy burgers and tacos to dumplings (which I Loved! Try one of their mixed boxes) and meze.
And do NOT miss out on the G&T bar!
2. DE JAPANNER: Make sure to reserve a table at this Japanese favorite! Taste a bit of everything, including the drinks.
3. BAZAR: Eat super tasty (and enormous) plates from the Middle East and North Africa in bazar surroundings. AND the prices are pretty good as well.
4. CAFE RESTAURANT: Brasserie style dishes served in a restored pump house near Westerpark. Just as good for a quick lunch as it is for a dinner with friends.
5. LA PERLA: In the mood for some Pizza? We’re always in the mood – as long as it’s good! And the one at La Perla is said to be the best one. Not to mention the simple yet cozy and casual corner spot.
WHERE TO DRINK
Since we’re not the that party-people anymore, we prefer them bars, and there are some bars really worth visiting while in Amster. Our favorite though is Glou Glou. Amazing atmosphere and even better wine!
The shopping scene in Amsterdam will definitely surprise. Besides the giant malls as Magna Plaza and De Bijenkorf, and the classic shopping streets Kalverstraat (high-street) and PC Hooftstraat (high-end), these ones are worth the visit:
FASHION: Van Ravenstein and X-Bank.
VINTAGE: Episode, Rumors Vintage, Marbles Vintage, Bis Vintage, La Doyenne Vintage and L’Étoile de Saint Honoré.
BEAUTY: Skins cosmetics.
INTERIOR: Droog and Mooi.
FLEA MARKETS: Albert Cuyp Market and Waterlooplein.
(Affiliate) If there is one garment I simply just can’t get enough of it’s the blazer. I’m not sure how many I own. Especially when I count all the blazers I bought to my boyfriend – so I could wear them them as well ofc – into the math.
There are a few and more will it be; there is no garment more wearable, transformable and reliable. Which is why I’ve gathered 7 news we all need in our AW-wardrobes ASAP:
(Affiliate) Finding it hard to choose natural and ecological products? Well, you’re not alone! Personally, we’ve identified two main challenges.
1. FINDING THE PRODUCTS
Yes, we’ve spent a fair share of time trying to understand the writing at the back of the products – and still being just about 80% sure we’ve ended up with an actually natural product on our way home.
2. FINDING THE PRODUCTS THAT ACTUALLY WORKS
Because: Until a few years ago we’ve been so disappointed with some of the natural products.
…but! Times has changed and some of our favorite products today are both natural and ecological and we recently discovered that Kicks (one of our favorite online beauty stores) now has a whole new and ecological alternative in their menu! Which we love, love love and therefore had to share.
Below we’ve gathered a little wish-list of some of the most exciting looking natural products – and you can check out your favorite products HERE.

No one knows a city better then the locals living there, which is why we’re welcoming our new column: A locals guide. No more (or at least less!) travel stress and failures, and first local out, one of our favorite ‘Stockholmers’ and STYLEBY-blogger Hanna.
