Therefor there is nothing like saving one or two favorites to bring to your next travel, reading them by the pool while sipping a mojito or on the beach with your feet in the sand. But finding the perfect book(s) ain’t always easy; it’s just like packing your suitcase. How do you choose from all your favorites and all the new-ins always arriving? The result is refreshing!
Either you’re a fan of Katie Kitamura’s previous novels (Gone to the Forest and The Longshot) or you’re new to her lauded pieces, you’ll adore A Separation. A couple agrees to breaks up, after a time he goes missing in Greece and she decides to go looking for him. As her search comes to a shocking breaking point, she discovers knows less than she thought about her relationship and the man she once used to love.
THE FIRE THIS TIME:
Using James Baldwin’s The Fire Next Time as inspiration, Jesmyn Ward and 18 contemporary writers their thoughts on race in this powerful collection of essays and poems. The gathering resulted in a necessary platform to lament, hope, and educate.
SOUTH AND WEST:
A new book by the inspiring (in so many ways, just check out her style!) Joan Didion. This slim volume holds two excerpts – that never have seen the light – of the legendary writer’s notebooks. Following the trip Didion took in 1970 with her husband through Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama, and the other, in California, we get to see the world through her eyes and come into the mind and process of a legendary writer.
