We keep on asking some of our favorite beauty-girls about their 5 must have products when traveling and this time we’re super proud to introduce the beautiful makeup artist and freelance beauty writer Therese Dombek to our column!
And hey; don’t forget to check out her beauty sitefore even more tips!
I always bring my daily serum, that way I get the deep luxurious treatment that my skin needs underneath any suncream I apply on top. Particularly in sunny locations and during the summer season I often swap my daily moisturiser for a sun cream, so it’s important to have something that also works in the deeper layers in addition to protecting the surface. I love and use Bioline De-Ox C Evolution Booster Serum both morning and evening, it helps slow down skin aging (yes please!), makes my skin glow and balances the skin tone almost as if I am wearing make up.
Because I like to keep my skin as natural as possible in the sun, I avoid using foundation. But a little cover up here and there is necessary, and I like to use a creamy, pigmented concealer lightly to hide shadows around my eyes, nose and random spots. But because my skin color might change during a stay in a sunny place it’S crucial to make sure I have the right color for whatever skin color I get. I think the Mac Studio Conceal & Correct palette – which contains 6 shades – is amazing, because I always find or mix the perfect match. I always apply it with a small concealer brush for precision.

One of the makeup products I love the most is highlighters. I prefer them liquid because they melt into the skin and look more natural. I would definitely bring it on any holiday too because sun kissed, highlighted skin is one of my favorite looks! I have many favorites, and I would probably take either my Tom Ford, Dior, Mac or Laura Mercier-highlighter and pour a little into an empty jar to save space in my makeup bag (you need very little to get the right effect). I apply it on my cheekbones and around the temples, under my brows and along the bridge of the nose and upper lip using a soft blush brush to avoid makeup lines.

The makeup cloth Makeup Eraser is one of the most brilliant things I’ve ever tried. You need nothing else apart from tepid water, and these two combined makes all your makeup disappear – even the blackest mascara. I did a test with a cotton pad and micellar water to check if there was any residue and there was absolutely none. When you need to travel light this one is a must have, but I use it as my daily cleanser too because it’s cheap to use and simply just amazing.
I have a tradition of treating myself to a new lipstick in the taxfree when I travel far. As a beauty journalist and makeup artist I’ve received hundreds of lipsticks, but the ones I always end up using are the ones that I have purchased with my own money. The last one I got were Dior Addict. I remember loving the pretty and subtle color "Smile", it’s really flattering on most people actually. But this year I’ll find something new, like always. Perhaps YSL or Chanel. There are so many new products and colors and textures launched every year that are too tempting not to try.
